The Victron Buck-Boost DC-DC Converter is designed specifically for vehicles with smart alternators, common in newer cars (Euro 5, Euro 6 engines) and those using regenerative braking. These smart alternators can adjust voltage output based on various factors, potentially harming your auxiliary (service) battery.

The Buck-Boost Solves Two Problems

• Regulated Charging: It ensures a consistent, pre-set voltage reaches your service battery, protecting it from damage caused by high voltages (like some Mercedes reaching 15.4V) and ensuring proper charging even with low alternator voltages.
• Starter Battery Protection: A built-in "engine running" detection system prevents the converter from draining your vehicle's starting battery when the engine is off. Alternatively, you can program activation through D+, CAN bus, or (+)15 connection signals.

One Converter, Multiple Applications

Programmable for user-friendliness, the Buck-Boost works with various battery and vehicle systems. You can set it up to charge either a 12V or 24V service battery, regardless of whether your vehicle's main system is 12V or 24V.
